GatorMart E-commerce

GatorMart is a custom-built e-commerce platform developed as part of Software Engineering project to serve the San Francisco State University student community. The platform enables secure, student-to-student connections for buying and selling textbooks, electronics, and campus essentials. Built with a focus on usability, scalability, and community safety, it incorporates SFSU email-based authentication, categorized product browsing, integrated messaging, and safe meetup prompts for on-campus exchanges. With responsive design optimized for both desktop and mobile, GatorMart provides a familiar yet streamlined marketplace experience modeled after popular e-commerce platforms while being tailored specifically to campus needs.

A dedicated marketplace for SFSU students that supports product listings for textbooks, electronics, and essentials. Features category filtering, real-time search by title/keyword, and sort options including price, popularity, and newest arrivals for a smooth discovery process.

Personalized Dashboard

Each registered student has access to a dashboard showing active listings and conversations. Tabs allow seamless switching between messages and inventory management, offering an organized, intuitive experience tailored for frequent use.

Integrated Messaging System

Built-in communication system enabling buyers to directly message sellers about listings. Each message includes a prompt to choose a secure on-campus meeting location, reinforcing community safety during exchanges.

SFSU Email Authentication

User authentication requires a valid SFSU email address, ensuring that only verified students can post or purchase. This safeguard maintains the exclusivity and trustworthiness of the marketplace.

Dynamic homepage featuring a search bar with keyword-based lookup and real-time category filters. Users can quickly browse products by relevance while accessing curated listings and personalized results.

User Dashboard

Displays personalized listings and messages with tab-based navigation. Designed to simplify both buying and selling workflows, making inventory and communication management easy.

Messaging System

Integrated communication tool allowing buyers and sellers to connect securely. Includes prompts for safe campus meetup spots and time-stamped conversation tracking.

Product Listings

User-friendly product posting form with fields for title, description, category, price, and image upload. Supports streamlined item creation while reinforcing safety with on-campus trade locations.

Team Collaboration

Developed by a five-member team using an agile workflow. Roles included Team Lead, Frontend Lead, Backend Lead, GitHub Master, and Member. Collaboration was managed through GitHub, Discord, and Zoom for milestone reviews and code sprints.

Database & Listings

Database schema includes Users, Items, Messages, and Categories tables. Designed to support authentication, secure item management, and fast query performance for real-time search.

Analytics Integration

Google Analytics dashboard tracks user engagement, listing views, and system activity. Helps evaluate platform usability and informs data-driven improvements.
